The second single from Parker Leftlover’s upcoming album «Obligation of Joy» ventures into darker and colder sonic territories - a feverish coldwave tune, paranoid and driven, with a distorted voice that feels like a whispered confession.
The lyrics of New Qena City» were written while passing through the Egyptian city of the same name. The architecture of planned cities becomes a metaphor for identity crisis: alienation in
moments of despair, a prayer chain made of disorientation.
The music video, self-filmed by the duo during their tour in China, echoes the song’s theme: an amusement park nestled among skyscrapers, a place of longing and instant pleasure, a façade of
convenience and dystopia, amusement and sadness … they all collide in this driving song!
About Parker Leftlover
Parker Leftlover merges cold wave, slow psychedelic disco, and dreamy 80s synths into a sound that’s both melancholic and danceable. Formed by Nikita Thévoz (Vevey) and Jonas Weber (Biel), the duo explores themes of love, loneliness, and emotional tension through cinematic, retro-futuristic pop. Their music moves between synthetic coldness and human warmth, always with a distinctive touch.
