Norwegian–British–Swedish post-punk outfit Slug Boys return today with their most disarming track, emotionally and sonically: “The War”, the final single before their debut album LISTEN TO SLUG BOYS drops on October 31, 2025.
Known for their raw energy and explosive live shows, Slug Boys now reveal a more reflective, anthemic side, without ever losing their edge. “The War” is melodic and intense, with sharp post-punk
riffs and a massive chorus that walks the line between vulnerability and rage.
“The War” draws directly from vocalist Jake’s conversations with his grandfather, a WWII veteran. Lyrics like “In my time, I will tell you about the war” speak of trauma passed down and memories
too heavy to relive, yet impossible to forget.
At a time when global conflict once again dominates headlines, Slug Boys connect the past to the present in a deeply human way, showing how war never truly ends for those who carry its
scars.
The single is accompanied by a powerful intro track, built around a gentle guitar theme and a phone call with Jake’s grandfather, drifting between memory, reality, and reflection.
Produced by Morten Øby (Death by Unga Bunga, Aktiv Dödshjelp, Blomst) and mastered by Emily Lazar (Foo Fighters, Sleigh Bells), “The War” expands Slug Boys’ sound without losing the intensity
that has made them stand out in the Norwegian underground.
