Chinaschilf is the first single from shatten's upcoming album ‚Gegenwart’ (present). Chinaschilf was written in response to the question "How can we deal with all the idiots without becoming one ourselves?" To this end, we follow shatten in the footsteps of a hermit, a life in retreat, in order to escape social pressure and the standardisation that comes with it. But can that be the solution: leaving the city and living from hand to mouth in an old nursery?

Das neue Lied der Postpunkband shatten, Sturmschaden, handelt von Katastrophen. Vom Elternhaus und dem Fleck Erde auf dem du geboren wurdest. Faktoren die über dein Leben entscheiden, noch bevor du einen einzigen Atemzug getan hast. Ob Rassismus, Gewalt oder Armut. Du wirst da reingeboren und musst damit klar kommen. Geschrieben wurde der Text zu den Erlebnissen der Flutkatastrophe im Ahrtal. Die Gruppe heißt shatten und ihre neue Platte trägt den Namen „Gruppenchat“.
